First observation of strong OZI rule violation in πN interactions
1996
The data of the CERN WA56 experiment that triggered the fast proton produced in the $\pi^{+}p$ and $\pi^{-}p$ interactions at beam momenta 20 GeV/c and 12 GeV/c, respectively, are used to analyse the final states $ p_{f} \phi (\omega)\pi^{\pm}$. A large excess (up to two orders of magnitude) of the $\phi/\omega$ cross sections ratio over the OZI prediction is observed.
Hidden and open $$\bar ss$$ production in $$\bar pp$$ annihilation at restannihilation at rest
1994
New branching ratios for\(\bar pp\) annihilation at rest into final states with a\(K\bar K\) pair or φ-meson are being measured with the Crystal Barrel detector at LEAR. The yield of φγ, relative to ωγ, appears to violate the OZI rule as strongly as φπ relative to ωπ.
Spin alignment and violation of the OZI rule in exclusive ω and ϕ production in pp collisions
2014
Exclusive production of the isoscalar vector mesons $\omega$ and $\phi$ is measured with a 190 GeV$/c$ proton beam impinging on a liquid hydrogen target. Cross section ratios are determined in three intervals of the Feynman variable $x_{F}$ of the fast proton. A significant violation of the OZI rule is found, confirming earlier findings. Its kinematic dependence on $x_{F}$ and on the invariant mass $M_{p\mathrm{V}}$ of the system formed by fast proton $p_\mathrm{fast}$ and vector meson $V$ is discussed in terms of diffractive production of $p_\mathrm{fast}V$ resonances in competition with central production. The measurement of the spin density matrix element $\rho_{00}$ of the vector mesons…
Study of theZb(10610) andZb(10650) states through $B\bar{B}^*$ and $B^*\bar{B}^*$ interactions using local hidden gauge approach
2016
We have studied the $B\bar{B}^*$ and $B^*\bar{B}^*$ interactions for isospin I = 1 using the Local Hidden gauge approach. Since both interactions via one light meson exchange are not allowed by Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule, we investigated the contributions for those interactions coming from two pions, interacting and noninteracting among themselves, and also due to the heavy vector meson exchange, in which the OZI rule no longer holds. From the amplitudes calculated by these mechanism, we determine an effective potential which is used as a kernel of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. Our goal is look for poles in the T-matrix in attemp to relate them with the charged Zb (10610) and Zb (10650) s…
φ production in annihilation at rest
1991
Abstract We report on measurements of the branching ratios for φ production in p p annihilation at rest in H 2 gas. Branching ratios for φπ 0 , φη, φϱ 0 , φω and φπ + π − are determined for two data sets with different contributions of annihilations from S and P states of the p p system. The branching ratios are compared to corresponding annihilation modes where the φ is replaced by an ω meson. We conclude that φ production is in most reactions enhanced with respect to the expectation based on the OZI rule. In annihilations from the spin triplet ground state of antiprotonic hydrogen into φπ the OZI rule is violated dramatically.
The strangeness content of the nucleon from effective field theory and phenomenology
2014
We revisit the classical relation between the strangeness content of the nucleon, the pion-nucleon sigma term and the $SU(3)_F$ breaking of the baryon masses in the context of Lorentz covariant chiral perturbation theory with explicit decuplet-baryon resonance fields. We find that a value of the pion-nucleon sigma term of $\sim$60 MeV is not necessarily at odds with a small strangeness content of the nucleon, in line with the fulfillment of the OZI rule. Moreover, this value is indeed favored by our next-to-leading order calculation. We compare our results with earlier ones and discuss the convergence of the chiral series as well as the uncertainties of chiral approaches to the determinatio…
Unitary chiral dynamics in J/Psi decays into VPP and the role of the scalar mesons
2004
We make a theoretical study of the $\J$ decays into $\omega\pi\pi$, $\phi\pi\pi$, $\omega K \bar{K}$ and $\phi K\bar{K}$ using the techniques of the chiral unitary approach stressing the important role of the scalar resonances dynamically generated through the final state interaction of the two pseudoscalar mesons. We also discuss the importance of new mechanisms with intermediate exchange of vector and axial-vector mesons and the role played by the OZI rule in the $\J\phi\pi\pi$ vertex, quantifying its effects. The results nicely reproduce the experimental data for the invariant mass distributions in all the channels considered.
Nucleon Vector Strangeness Form Factors: Multi-pion Continuum and the OZI Rule
1997
We estimate the 3 \pi continuum contribution to the nucleon strange quark vector current form factors, including the effect of a 3 \pi \rho \pi resonance. We find the magnitude of this OZI-violating contribution to be comparable to that of typical OZI-allowed contributions. We also study the isoscalar electromagnetic form factors, and find that the presence of a \rho \pi resonance in the multi-pion continuum may generate an appreciable contribution.
Measurement of OZI rule violation and spin alignment inϕandωproduction at COMPASS
2012
The COMPASS collaboration at CERN dedicated the 2008 and 2009 run time to hadron spectroscopy measurements with emphasis on the mesonic sector. At 190 GeV/c beam momentum, diffractive and double-Reggeon/Pomeron production mechanisms contribute. Studying vector meson production allows to explore this relatively unknown transition domain. We present results on the ratio of production yields for p p → (1020) p p ϕ and p p → p p ω (782) and its xF dependence where we find an OZI rule violation in the order of a factor of 3. In addition, the spin alignment of ω and ϕ as a function of xF is investigated.
Unitary chiral dynamics in decays and the role of scalar mesons
2004
We make a theoretical study of the J/psi decays into omegapipi, phipipi, omegaK (K) over bar and phiK (K) over bar using the techniques of the chiral unitary approach stressing the important role of the scalar resonances dynamically generated through the final state interaction of the two pseudoscalar mesons. We also discuss the importance of new mechanisms with intermediate exchange of vector and axial-vector mesons and the role played by the OZI rule in the J/ psi phipipi vertex, quantifying its effects. The results nicely reproduce the experimental data for the invariant mass distributions in all the channels considered. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
